AWL Careers | Some things we don’t automate
As a (Mid-level) Systems Administrator, you’ll play a central role in managing and optimising our IT environment. From networks and cloud solutions to security and applications: you’ll ensure that everything runs smoothly, securely and is future-proof. Thanks to your efforts, colleagues worldwide can rely on a well-functioning IT infrastructure.
At least a completed mbo-4 qualification in IT and several years (approx. 5 years) of experience in desktop and system administration within a complex IT environment;
You have demonstrable, hands-on experience with technologies such as Windows Server, Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365 and Azure, as well as knowledge of VMware and XenServer, and of Microsoft Exchange and spam filters;
Experience with leading-brand firewalls and backup solutions and are able to manage these independently;
You work effortlessly within structured management processes and maintain an overview, even in complex environments. You take responsibility for the continuity, security and quality of the IT environment;
You are solution-oriented, work both independently and as part of a team, and communicate easily in Dutch and English (both verbally and in writing).
A competitive salary between €4,000 and €5,500 gross per month, depending on your knowledge and experience;
A challenging, varied IT environment with a complex IT infrastructure and international impact;
Plenty of possibilities to develop yourself and explore new technologies;
An attractive package of employment conditions in accordance with the Metalektro collective labour agreement, including 40 days’ leave;
Collaboration with enthusiastic colleagues in a professional and no-nonsense working environment.
As a Systems Administrator within IT Operations, you will be responsible for the management and further development of our IT infrastructure. You will ensure that systems function optimally and are continuously available – both at our head office and at our international branches. An occasional visit to one of our overseas locations? A varied aspect of the role that appeals to you.
You will work on a wide range of issues: from resolving complex faults to implementing new technologies such as Azure solutions. You will have considerable freedom to implement improvements and will actively contribute ideas regarding the future of our IT environment.
Manage and optimise the IT infrastructure (networks, servers, firewalls and SD-WAN);
Ensure secure and reliable systems through security measures and vulnerability checks;
Work on backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard data and business continuity;
Manage applications and ensure that software is up to date and functioning properly;
Handle complex second-line incidents and keep services running smoothly.
Together with your colleagues, you will ensure that IT is not a bottleneck, but rather a catalyst for the organisation.
We fill our vacancies through our own recruitment department. We therefore do not welcome unsolicited approaches in relation to this vacancy.
Unsolicited profiles, CVs or candidate proposals from agencies (in any form whatsoever) will be regarded as direct applications from the candidate themselves. No rights may be derived from these, and no remuneration is payable in respect of them.
You start the day with a quick check of the systems and monitoring tools. Are there any incidents or issues? If so, you set priorities and coordinate with the team.
You dive into an issue relating to network performance and liaise with colleagues to identify the cause. Currently you’ve read about a new vulnerability, so later this morning it’s time to create a change request and implement a security measure within the Azure environment.
After lunch, you discuss future IT improvements with the team. For example, you might discuss the implementation of an MDM solution or draw up a plan to update Citrix.
You help a colleague with a Power App in Azure that has stopped working. You get to grips with it and ensure they can get back to work quickly.
You check that all tickets have been updated and add the latest updates to them. At 16:30 your closing your laptop. Done for today!
Manage and update on-premises and Azure cloud environments
Manage SharePoint, Active Directory and Microsoft 365
Analyse and monitor key processes within the organisation and keep up to date with the latest developments
