AWL Careers | Some things we don’t automate
Can you quickly grasp complex challenges and effectively translate new information into clear, actionable insights? Then this could be your next challenge.
You hold at least a bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Industrial Engineering & Management, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable discipline, and have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role within a technical environment. You can effortlessly switch between multiple calculations and projects, bringing structure to your work;
You have a strong interest in technology, data and finance, are accurate and analytical, and are able to interpret large volumes of numerical information and identify connections between engineering and costs;
You have excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Navision is an advantage and will help you settle into the role quickly;
You work in a structured manner, even under time pressure, and proactively gather missing information from colleagues;
You are curious and investigative by nature: you do not simply execute tasks, but seek to understand them and actively ensure clarity in your work.
Enthusiastic and highly skilled colleagues in a challenging, high-tech environment where continuous innovation is key to staying ahead in an evolving international market;
A competitive salary ranging from €4.000 to €5.100, depending on your experience;
An attractive benefits package in line with the Metalektro Collective Labour Agreement, including 40 days of annual leave and a solid pension scheme;
Ample opportunities for personal development, growth and training, with access to our AWL Academy offering more than 50 training programmes.
As a Cost Estimator within the Business Unit General Industry, you will work on challenging, innovative projects in an international and dynamic environment. You play a key role in preparing competitive quotations for high-end manufacturing solutions – ranging from handling systems to complex, fully automated production lines.
You translate technical documentation, bills of materials and production data into accurate cost price calculations. You ensure that every component of a machine or system is correctly converted into a reliable cost figure. Working closely with Sales, Engineering and Production, you make sure that quotations are technically sound and financially well substantiated.
Analyse bills of materials (BOM), technical drawings and production information;
Calculate material costs, machining hours and assembly times per component;
Prepare detailed cost price calculations for machines and installations;
Check and validate data to ensure a consistent and reliable quotation structure;
Ensure accuracy and uniformity across all calculations;
Align with engineering and production on technical assumptions and cost-related principles.
You work close to both technology and the quotation process within an international and dynamic environment. This gives you direct insight into how complex technical concepts are translated into concrete costs and competitive quotations for high-end manufacturing solutions – from handling systems to fully automated production lines.
As such, you are a vital link between design and realisation, directly contributing to well-founded decision-making within Sales and Engineering.
We fill our vacancies through our own recruitment department. We therefore do not welcome unsolicited approaches in relation to this vacancy.
Unsolicited profiles, CVs or candidate proposals from agencies (in any form whatsoever) will be regarded as direct applications from the candidate themselves. No rights may be derived from these, and no remuneration is payable in respect of them.
You start the day with a stand-up. No two days are the same. You discuss the projects you worked on yesterday and outline the tasks and challenges for today. Armed with a cup of coffee (or tea), you get started.
Your colleague, the Concept Engineer, has developed a concept and you brainstorm together. The concept is then handed over to you so you can further detail the costs using your in-depth expertise.
You’ve enjoyed a pleasant walk on the edge of the Veluwe, and before you know it, your break is already over.
You have something special scheduled today: a colleague is giving a short workshop on Visual Components. As a Cost Estimator, you do not work directly with this software, but it is valuable to be involved—because you are part of a team.
The day has flown by. You head outside together with a colleague and reflect on an enjoyable day with great achievements.
Post-calculation and analysis of budgets for sold projects
