Senior Platform Engineer APIs & Integration

Role purpose: Build and operate a scalable integration platform that enables reliable API delivery, system-to-system integrations, and secure data exchange across internal and external services.

Design, develop, and maintain API and integration services, including REST/JSON and event-driven patterns.

Own platform reliability: monitoring, alerting, incident response, and performance tuning.

Implement API lifecycle management: standards, versioning, documentation, governance, and developer experience.

Build CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation to improve release speed and quality.

Ensure security and compliance through authentication/authorization, secrets management, and secure networking.

Partner with product and engineering teams to translate integration needs into scalable platform capabilities.

Strong experience engineering platforms for APIs and integrations in cloud environments.

Proficiency with API gateways, service-to-service communication, and integration middleware.

Hands-on DevOps/SRE practices: observability, SLAs/SLOs, automation, and troubleshooting.

Experience with containers and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code.

Solid understanding of security best practices for APIs (e.g., OAuth2/OIDC, mTLS, rate limiting).

Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to mentor and influence technical standards.

API’s are the backbone of engineering and at Api Squad of NN we are making sure that we deliver an Api Platform which is highly robust, secure and customer friendly and for that we are looking for a skilled API Devops Engineer to join our team. In this team you will work on top of the line tools such as WSO2 as an Api Platform deployed via Kubernetes on our AWS cloud.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining and improving our WSO2 platform. you will get under the hood of our tech landscape to realize seamless engineering experience. You have a good command on modern software engineering practices with a focus on team culture and engineering excellence, mostly focusing on DevOps, shift-left practices, test automation, reliability engineering

The current version of the platform is being built as a software product. This means that we follow lean and agile methodologies to ship features as with a software project. We gradually release software in alpha and beta phases and gather feedback from users during these early stages. Every change is built locally and integrated from the version control system through a pull request.

Another important design principle is simplicity. We aim to optimize the work of the team, so that it becomes more fun to deliver our environment due to reduced complexity and ease of new feature development. Simplification leads to more agility to respond to our users’ demands. We are significantly shifting towards more cloud native services.

Salary between €7,087 and €9,449 based on a 40-hour work week, depending on your knowledge and experience

7+ years of experience working with Programming language mainly Java, if you have worked with Quarkus that’s a big plus

Experience with Kubernetes, CKAD Certification is a big plus

Experience working with Api Management platform such as WSO2, Kong, mulesoft or similar is a big plus

Solid AWS cloud knowledge and experience (Networking, PaaS, IaaS, IAM)

Experience with GitOps deployment management

Experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) or terraform

Strong communication (at least English), analytical and collaboration skills

Working well in a team environment, including the ability to collaborate with others and contribute to team goals

Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems creatively and efficiently

A keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and quality in coding and project deliverables

The ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines

Ability to understand and manage one's own emotions, as well as empathize with others to enable a positive and productive work environment

You will be part of the API Squad, which is part of NN's Engineering Experience & Platforms domain. This domain has a scale-up type of culture and consists of a group of energetic and empowered engineers and product teams. We strive to make backends and APIs successful across the entire company (including our international units). We really value our culture and nourish it at every opportunity.
