Platform Engineer (Data & Infrastructure)

We are looking for a Platform Engineer (Data & Infrastructure) with strong expertise in Elastic (Elasticsearch) and/or Kafka, responsible for building, operating, and scaling Linux-based data platforms in enterprise environments.

In this role, you will focus on the full operational lifecycle of mission-critical platforms, ensuring reliability, performance, scalability, and automation within a complex and growing infrastructure. You will work at the intersection of Linux infrastructure, distributed data technologies, databases, and platform engineering, contributing to highly available and resilient services.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, configure, monitor, and maintain Linux-based infrastructure and enterprise data platforms.
• Operate, optimize, and troubleshoot Elastic (Elasticsearch) and/or Kafka environments in production.
• Manage and optimize database services such as MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Improve operational efficiency through automation and standardization.
• Design, implement, and operate highly available and resilient platform services.
• Implement disaster recovery, backup, and recovery strategies.
• Ensure the performance, scalability, and reliability of distributed systems and data platforms.
• Continuously improve observability, monitoring, and platform resilience.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to support service delivery and system integrations.

Functie-eisen

Required knowledge & experience;

• Solid experience administering Linux in production environments.
• Hands-on experience with Elastic (Elasticsearch) and/or Apache Kafka in enterprise or production environments (required).
• Experience operating and maintaining distributed systems or large-scale infrastructure.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Strong understanding of performance tuning, troubleshooting, scalability, and system reliability.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience working in enterprise or mission-critical environments.
• Experience with high-availability architectures and database clustering.
• Proactive, ownership-driven mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English; 

  Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Hybrid/remote working is possible, duration min. 12 months, with a rate between EUR 90-100 per hour, excl. VAT.
