As a Senior Consultant within the ESG & Sustainability Solutions team, you will take a leading role in advising owners, users, and developers of commercial real estate on a wide range of ESG and Sustainability-related topics. You will work together with broad range of specialists in our team to analyze different ESG & Sustainability strategies, and develop improvement plans. In this position, you will lead in the delivery of advice to clients from enquiry to project completion. You can expect to work on a wide range of projects, whilst having the opportunity to develop as a specialist in a given area. Projects range from ESG strategy development and portfolio decarbonization planning for a large investment manager, to ESG program management for a large corporate organization, sustainability certification projects, and reporting of performance data.

You will seek opportunities to stretch and develop within CBRE, maintain your own network, and coach others toward taking greater responsibility on projects.

Our ESG & Sustainability Solutions team comprises more than 310 specialists with a diverse and international background, dedicated to making commercial real estate more sustainable. We do this through collaboration with clients, partners, and all departments of CBRE. We provide advice from strategy through to implementation, both locally in the Netherlands and across Europe. We enjoy working with all these different specialists, throughout the real estate lifecycle, to come up with high-quality solutions for our clients.

Here’s what a typical working day as a Senior Consultant in our ESG & Sustainability team could look like:

After dropping the kids at school, you head back home to start your working day. You clear your mailbox over a good cup of coffee, avoiding the morning traffic, then set off for a meeting at a client’s office.

On your way to the meeting, you call one of the more junior members of the team. You are working with them on a time-sensitive project, and want to make sure they feel supported and understand what is needed to move further with the delivery.

You arrive at the client’s office where you meet a colleague from CBRE’s Capital Markets team. You spend an hour or so with the client, going over a recent proposal you have issued. The proposal is for an ESG audit of a large office in Amsterdam, which the client hopes to sell in the short term. This is the first time the client has considered ESG within a transaction context, and requires some guidance through the process.

You head to the office to grab lunch with a colleague from another department; you have been meaning to catch up for a while. You have a good chat about things going on in and out of work.

You spend the early afternoon doing focused work in a quiet corner of the office. A new piece of legislation has been announced yesterday evening and you have been tasked with briefing the team on it. You spend a couple of hours reading up on it and writing a high-level summary to present at the next team meeting.

You arrive home around 15:00, where you finish up your work day. You are facilitating an ESG strategy workshop for a Dutch shopping center fund tomorrow and need to finish the preparations. You make a quick call to a colleague to get their last input, make the final adjustments to the materials, and shut down your laptop.

You are in possession of a completed HBO or WO education;

You have 3-5 years of work experience in making the built environment more sustainable and are used to working in complex projects;

You maintain a strong network of industry peers among investors, developers and users of real estate that are active in the Netherlands;

You have a sound understanding of regulations and trends in the field of ESG and Sustainability;

You have solid track record in successfully delivering ESG and Sustainability advice to real estate decision-makers;

You are goal-oriented, pragmatic, quality-conscious, able to make quick and informed decisions, and work well in a team environment;

You are motivated to connect substantive knowledge to commercial opportunities, have the right communication skills to advise clients on a tailor-made basis;

You enjoy and have practical experience in coaching others to success;

You are an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, in English and preferably Dutch.
