This is a paid position for 32-38 hours per week.

What will you do?

As Director of Programs, you are an authentic leader with courage and vision, responsible for the program strategy of the Liliane Foundation and MIVA. Together with our partners in the Global South, you ensure the continuous development of our programs, aiming to achieve the greatest possible impact so that all children with disabilities can participate fully.

In accordance with our ambition to promote equal partnership with our partners in the Global South – also known as 'Shifting the Power' – you and your team will work towards enhancing the visibility of our impact and strengthening our role as an expert, networker, and advocate. As a teamleader and member of the Management Team (MT), you will shape and guide our programs in an inspiring manner. You will also streamline and professionalize our workingmethods. You enjoy representing the Liliane Foundation and MIVA externally, leveraging your existing network and expanding it further. Internally, you will continuously seek connections with others and you will facilitate change processes.

Who are you?

  • You are someone who navigates smoothly in a complex and dynamic work environment and feels challenged to develop a vision and strategy with others, ensuring broad support and involvement, both internally and externally.

  • You are able to translate our strategy into concrete plans and actions. You develop and oversee processes and budgets, ensuring a solid base facilitating employees and teams to do their work in a pleasant manner.

What do you bring?

  • You identify yourself with the three core values of the Liliane Foundation: Openness, Connectivity, and Trust.
  • You have a strong affinity with our workingfield of (disability) inclusion. This means you are not only passionate about international fundraising and partnerships, but you also bring solid and relevant experience to contribute to the sustainability of the Liliane Foundation.
  • You have at least three years of leadership experience at a senior management level in a similar organization and are willing to travel to partner organizations in Africa and Asia.
  • You have a professional fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. The common language at work is English. Proficiency in French is a plus.
  • We preferably look for a candidate who belongs to a cultural minority, has a background in the Global South, and/or lives with a disability.
  • If you do not possess the Dutch nationality: you must meet the requirements to work in the Netherlands.

Position in the organization

In this role, you will lead the Programs department with about 35 employees in total. You manage the managers of the teams Program Strategy & Learning and Program Management. You also manage Institutional Fundraising and Lobby. You will be a member of the Management Team and you report to the Managing Director of the Liliane Foundation.

In our Code of Conduct, the protection of children is given specific attention. All employees are also required to submit a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). During the application procedure, we also carry out a reference/integrity check with two previous employers or clients.

Approximately 50,000 children with disabilities received support from Liliane Fonds in 2023. We started a change in their lives. A change that, for most, means the difference between a life on the margins and a life with others and room for development.

80% of all children with disabilities live in the poorest parts of the world. That’s no coincidence. Poverty leads to disabilities, for example due to insufficient healthy food, a poor living environment and limited access to health care. Conversely, disability leads to more poverty. This is partly due to the fact that parents of children with disabilities incur higher costs for care and medicines. And also because the children themselves rarely have access to education and, at a later age, the labour market. They are also hampered by social exclusion and stigma. In this way, the vicious circle of poverty and disability has been closed.

Liliane Fonds breaks this vicious circle and improves the quality of life and future opportunities of children with disabilities. We make their living, playing and learning world more accessible and contribute to a society in which they can participate. We always do this together with local partners, who know the situ
