Internship in Language in Autism Research
We are looking for a Dutch-speaking intern to join a project on language in Autism. The internship is part of a wider PhD project by Harriet Reynolds, supervised by Jeannette Schaeffer, Tim Ziermans and Karen Lahousse, and investigates the question how autistic and neurotypical adolescents process ambiguous pronouns. We are currently creating and piloting an experiment to test how listeners choose a referent in ambiguous contexts, and how the intonation and pausing (prosody) of the speaker influences this.
The intern would be involved in data collection (i.e. testing autistic and non-autistic adolescents at their schools), as well as data analysis and interpretation, and potentially experiment design/improvement. Experience with children/teenagers is preferred and good organizational and planning skills are required.
The internship could start immediately, and a minimum investment of 8 hours a week is required, especially during the starting period. The size and duration of the entire internship is flexible and can be discussed.
