A leading organisation in the financial sector is seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to help design and implement a future-proof, end-to-end data value chain. The role focuses on creating a Data Reference Architecture that will serve as the foundation for scalable, high-quality, and enterprise-aligned data delivery.

You will work closely with internal architects, data modelers, and stakeholders to define principles, patterns, capabilities, and technology standards that align with the organisation’s data strategy and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and manage robust data architecture frameworks and solutions

Translate emerging technologies and market trends into architectural improvements and innovation proposals

Embed architectural designs within cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure

Collaborate with internal Data Architects and Data Modelers to develop the Data Reference Architecture

Coach and mentor team members to raise architectural maturity across the organisation

Engage with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment and buy-in

Requirements


Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Economics, Business, or a related field

10–15 years of recent experience in Data and Enterprise Architecture roles, preferably in the financial sector

Proven track record in leading architecture initiatives and creating reference architectures

Strong conceptual data modelling skills

In-depth knowledge of Azure and Databricks, including best practices (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert – AZ-305)

Experience working in Agile SCRUM teams; familiarity with SAFe is an advantage

Strong organisational awareness, perseverance, and a proactive mindset

Willingness to travel 25–50% of the time

Available for 36–40 hours per week, with on-site presence required during onboarding and 2–3 days per week thereafter

Preferred Skills & Attributes


Experience in developing reference architectures for both Enterprise and Data domains

Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions

Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence across a matrixed organisation

Assignment Details


Location: Amsterdam or Heerlen (hybrid working model)

Duration: Initial 3 months, with possible extension

Start: As soon as possible
