I am currently looking for an interim Venture Management project manager to join a leading organisation in the energy transition, to start immediately.

The client operates in the heating sector in collaboration with, amongst others, network operators. The aim is to accelerate the roll-out of district heating networks so that climate targets can be met, the strain on the electricity grid is reduced, and the Netherlands becomes less dependent on energy from abroad.

Governance: Ensures clear governance of the new investee companies

• Ensures standardised processes for decision-making and authorisation within the associated companies
• Set up standardised shareholder processes
• Establish the internal governance structure between the Client, the Executive Board, the Supervisory Board and the Ministry of KGG for the purpose of taking shareholder resolutions in the associated companies. This governance structure must be organised in a professional and predictable manner, so that the work plans, budgets and investments from the subsidiaries can be approved in a timely manner;
• Acquisitions: Works alongside the M&A Team to put in place the necessary organisational structures and processes to ensure the business continuity of acquired companies;

Investment analysis, portfolio management and financing: with input and support from the team of Business Analysts

• Oversees the development and refinement of a business case and an overarching portfolio model
• Evaluates and assesses business cases and project proposals for investment viability
• Works closely with the M&A team on the valuation of, in particular, new initiatives within the acquisition portfolios

What are you bringing?

Governance:

• Extensive experience in managing portfolio companies, e.g. within private equity or venture/investment management; experience in the energy sector would be an advantage;
• Experience in establishing and fine-tuning governance arrangements and (shareholder) processes

Investment analyses: 

• Extensive experience with and understanding of capital-intensive, long-term investment projects involving significant uncertainties
• Confident in scenario-based thinking and decision-making in the face of uncertainty
• Experience in modelling and developing business cases, financial valuation models and business planning models
• Strong financial and analytical skills (reasoning based on business cases and investment logic)
• Experience with M&A processes is an advantage

Organisational structure and leadership:

• Experience in setting up and organising a new organisation or department
• Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams
• Able to provide direction and create clarity and an overview for the organisation in an environment where there is still a great deal of change and where structures and processes have not yet been put in place

• Start: August, for a period of approximately 6 months
• The role is for a minimum of 32 hours per week
• Location: Randstad
