Fair Wear Foundation is seeking for a Senior Financial Controller, because the current colleague is leaving the organization after 5 years. Fair Wear has the ambitious mission to improve labour conditions in the garment industry. Since they were founded in 1999 lots of progress has been made, and now it is time to accelerate this progress and push to a tipping point.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial administration and manage two direct colleagues: a project grant controller and an experienced financial administrator. We are looking for a Senior Financial Controller who will drive financial insights of the organisation. You like to interact with people. You take initiative and proactively engage with project managers and country managers. You will actively be involved in the overall strategy and with your insights, you will help to keep control over costs which is crucial for steering our work. You enjoy working in a dynamic environment, take initiative and have flexibility in your way of working as needed.

The key areas of finance, human resources, personnel administration, IT, office management, travel, legal & insurance come together in Fair Wear’s Support Team. Working directly with Management, the team collects, analyses and provides information, drafts organisational policies and reports. Finance is a strategic role and the spider in the web when it comes to receiving, processing, and delivering all kinds of financial information through solid processes structured in AFAS and Salesforce. With the support and mandate from Management, the Senior Financial Controller encourages knowledge about and adherence to financial strategies, processes and procedures throughout the organisation. Fair Wear being the lead partner of a 6-party grant consortium, you and your team will work with the controllers of the other consortium members to coordinate the grant’s planning and reporting cycle.

With new EU legislation requiring fashion brands to assess and manage human rights and environmental risks in their global supply chains, the industry is at a crucial juncture. This also means a challenge for Fair Wear: what is the best role we can play to make sure the new laws deliver actual impact for the people in the production countries? Working with industry while keeping our mission first and maintaining our independence, Fair Wear’s Management will address these strategic questions in the coming period, and financial strategy is a key element.

In addition to contributing to the team’s overall strategy, the financial controller spends time on the following activities and responsibilities:

Financial administration including project administration, including budgeting, (annual) reporting, auditing and liquidity planning using AFAS.

Strategic advisor of the Management Team in all respects.

Assisting project teams with their budgeting and monitoring expenditure overviews for their projects and discussing those with the team representatives and management through Salesforce.

Lead controller for the strategic partnership STITCH together with five other consortium members in the specific grant agreement.

Actively contributing to further development and improvement of the financial systems and administrative procedures, in the future ISO 9001 Partos is aimed to be implemented.

At least 5 years’ experience in financial project control and reporting, preferably within the non-profit sector.

Good working knowledge of AFAS and Excel; knowledge of setting up administrations in AFAS is an advantage, but not a must.

Good communication skills in English, Dutch language is a preference.

Strong, flexible team player with the ability to manage challenging tasks independently and able to cope with deadlines.

Motivational, enthusiastic, respectful and flexible personality; must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity and demonstrate sound work ethics.

Aptitude for building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues and external relations, strong people skills.

Solid planning and organising capabilities with hands-on mentality.

You are not afraid to work independently, make mistakes and learn from them.

Salary: up to €79.920 gross a year based on 36 hours a week (incl. 8% holiday allowance)
