Project duration: 5-6 months (full-time)
Project Overview
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) plays a crucial role in both medical research and clinical practice, providing detailed images of internal structures. Ensuring the quality of these images is essential, also for T1-weighted (T1w) MRI, which is widely used for studying brain morphology. However, the presence of artifacts—unwanted distortions in the images—can compromise their reliability.
This research internship focuses on advancing automatic quality control (QC) methods for T1w MRI. The project involves investigating existing QC algorithms and their performance in identifying and assessing artifacts. Simulated artifacts of varying types and severity will be generated to benchmark these algorithms and evaluate their robustness. Additionally, external validation using independent datasets will provide insight into the generalizability of the proposed QC methods.
This internship provides an opportunity to explore techniques in medical image quality control, offering flexibility to align the project with your academic interests and expertise.
Required skills
– Programming experience (Python preferred)
