Your job

Imagine stepping into a role where you aren’t just maintaining network boundaries—you are actively shaping the future of bank-wide Cyber Defence. Sitting at the intersection of infrastructure, security architecture, and security engineering, your mission is to make ABN AMRO’s network both rock-solid and effortlessly scalable.
On any given week, you’ll split your time between strategic advisory and modern automation. One day, you might consult with platform engineering teams to review complex network security designs or evaluate high-impact firewall changes. The next, you’ll dive into building API integration layers and automating routine security workflows—eliminating manual friction so our network monitoring tools work smarter and faster.
Working alongside an international team of security specialists, data engineers, and Product Owners in an Agile environment, you’ll leverage data analytics to spot trends, refine our security posture, and turn raw security logs into actionable intelligence. You won't just keep the bank safe today; you'll build the automated foundation that keeps us secure tomorrow.

Working environment

You'll join the CISO department, which connects client, bank, and societal interests through information security. With about 500 global staff, CISO ensures the bank's security and pursues innovative solutions in a fast-changing, international environment. The office is in Amstelveen near Amsterdam, and English is the main language. Within CISO, the Cyber Defence department has around 150 employees across 7 sub-departments.

Your profile

You are a seasoned network security professional (5+ years of experience) who thrives where infrastructure, automation, and cybersecurity meet. You don't view security as a roadblock, but as an enabler—and you get genuine satisfaction out of replacing repetitive manual tasks with elegant automation.

  •  Threat Prevention specialist: you bring hands-on experience with modern network architecture and next-gen firewalls (NGFW). You are deeply familiar with advanced threat protection capabilities and know what deep packet inspection is all about. You know is not only about allowing ports and protocols, but you are interested in the deeper meaning of the traffic.
  •  Agile & Adaptive: You enjoy working in iterative, fast-moving environments where mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, and continuous development is built into the culture.
